This adventure tour will make you experience Madagascar in-depth but also to enjoy the Malagasy life style, landscapes, and beaches.
You will start in Antananarivo, the Capital and head eastward to the famous Andasibe National Park, a genuine rainforest and home for several endemic species of animals and plants. Then, you will continue up north on a red lateritic road to Ambatondrazaka, the first rice producer area of Madagascar with its thousands of hectares of rice fields. This area is very fertile because of Lake Alaotra, the first largest lake of Madagascar shelters the very endemic lemur called “the Gentle Lemur” and many species of aquatic birds. This lake is also classified international RAMSAR site.
From Ankosy, a small village about 70km from the capital of rice, you will go for a challenging 6-day trek on up-and-down trails through mountains to reach the Indian Ocean. You will stay amongst the villagers most of the time. The people are from the Merina, Sihanaka and Betsimisaraka tribes.
You will then have a 3-day relax journey by the beach in Sainte-Marie Island where you will be able to snorkel and to go on whales-watching as well as to visit the Island on bicycle. Zebu is like ox and symbol of the Malagasy culture. The zebu is useful at the everyday life of the Malagasy people from the rice fields to the celebrations and ceremonies.
